HSA/FSA support for eligible purchases

Some purchases may be eligible for qualified customers through Truemed when supported by the required review and documentation. Eligibility depends on the customer, product, HSA/FSA plan, and plan administrator. Not all customers or purchases qualify.

HSA/FSA accounts let eligible account holders use pre-tax dollars for qualified medical expenses. For products that are not automatically eligible, Truemed may route qualified customers through an independent provider review and, if appropriate, a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). Actual tax savings vary by customer, income, plan, product, and documentation.

Health savings accounts (HSA) and flexible spending accounts (FSA) are programs that allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare expenses. If you’re unsure whether or not you have an HSA or FSA account, please check with your employer or insurance company.

Follow the instructions shown by Truemed for your specific purchase. If a purchase is not eligible or you do not receive the required documentation, do not use HSA/FSA funds for it. For subscription purchases, use a normal credit or debit card and submit for reimbursement only if Truemed provides the required documentation.

Timing varies by HSA/FSA administrator. If you receive an LMN, submit it with your receipt and any administrator-required forms. Your administrator may approve or deny the claim based on your plan rules.

It depends on your LMN, product, plan rules, and Truemed instructions. LMNs are often time-limited and product- or category-specific. You still need to submit receipts and required documentation to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement.

A Letter of Medical Necessity ("LMN") is documentation from a licensed provider stating that a product or service is medically necessary for that customer. IRS rules for food and beverages are narrow, and ordinary food purchased for general health is generally not a medical expense. Truemed, the reviewing provider, and your plan administrator determine eligibility case by case. This is not medical, legal, or tax advice.

Use HSA/FSA dollars only for eligible expenses. FSA deadlines and rollover rules vary by employer plan, so check your plan documents before relying on a year-end deadline.

You may be able to submit for partial reimbursement for the eligible amount if your administrator allows it. Review your plan rules and submit only the amount supported by your receipt and required documentation.
