True Nature Meats – Knowledge Base

Welcome to the True Nature Meats FAQ and Info Hub. We’ve put everything you need to know about our meats, sourcing, delivery, and prep all in one place. Whether you’re new here or a long-time fan, you’ll find helpful answers to your top questions.

What kind of meat can I buy?

We offer premium beef, chicken, and pork, all chef-seasoned and fully cooked for your convenience. Our STEAKS are sold rare and ready to finish at home. In the future, look out for FEASTS, our larger meal boxes!

Where does our meat come from?

Our meats are sourced from trusted ranches across the Intermountain West (Utah, Idaho, Wyoming) and globally from regions like Argentina, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand. All our partners raise animals with care, using responsible and sustainable practices.

What is the quality of our beef?

We use USDA Choice beef, known for superior marbling and flavor. Our international meats are grass-fed, and pasture raised.

Our meats are primarily grass-fed or pasture-raised?

  • Beef: primarily 100% pasture raised
  • Pork & Chicken: Pasture-raised and free-range

Do you sell lab-grown meat?

Nope! Just real, naturally raised meat. There are no lab substitutes here.

Is the meat precooked?

Yes! All meats, except for steaks, are fully cooked, seasoned, vacuum-sealed, and flash-frozen for your convenience. Simply heat, serve, and enjoy. Steaks, on the other hand, are delivered rare and should be cooked at home to your desired level of Tenderness.

Are your meats keto-friendly?

Yes. High in protein, low in carbs. Check the label for macros that fit your diet.

Are your meats gluten-free?

Most are! Some items, like our Teriyaki and Spicy Pork, contain soy sauce (which includes wheat). We’re working on a gluten-free tamari alternative.

Do your products contain soy or peanuts?

  • Soy: Used in some sauces. Always clearly labeled.
  • Peanuts: Not currently used, but cross-contamination is possible. If you have severe allergies, consult your doctor before ordering.

What are "renderings"?

Renderings are the flavorful juices released during cooking, also known as drippings or au jus. They add flavor and help keep meat juicy when reheating.

Why do sodium levels seem high?

Because our meats are pre-seasoned and cooked, they naturally have more sodium than raw cuts. It's part of what our meals give their chef-crafted flavor.

How is the meat shipped?

Your order is:

  • Vacuum-sealed and flash-frozen
  • Packed with insulation and ice packs
  • Delivered frozen or chilled, ready to store or serve

Where do you ship?

We currently ship to the continental U.S. only.

When does my meat arrive?

Orders usually arrive within 1–2 business days after shipping. We ship Monday–Thursday to ensure freshness, and you’ll receive tracking updates as soon as your box is on the way. Pro tip: Orders placed Friday - Sunday may ship on Monday.

Shipping Holidays

We follow major FedEx shipping holidays, including:

  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day
  • Independence Day

How should I store my meat?

  • Frozen: We recommend storing in the freezer for up to 6 months. However, USDA says meat lasts in the freezer for up to 2 years.
  • Refrigerated (unopened): 10–14 days.
  • Opened: Use within 3–5 days. Store in airtight containers for the best freshness. Do not freeze open and completely thawed meat.

Best way to thaw?

Move your MEATS from freezer to refrigerator. They’ll be thawed and ready in 1–2 days.

Stovetop is best!

  1. Preheat a skillet or pan on medium heat.
  2. Add a tablespoon of butter to the pan.
  3. Add meat with the sauce.
  4. Cover with lid to trap moisture.
  5. Stir occasionally until it’s hot.
Finish Temp Temp per side
Rare 120 1:00 – 1:30, Minutes
Medium Rare 130 2:00 – 2:30, Minutes
Medium well 150 4:00 – 4:30, Minutes
Well done 160 5:00 – 5:30, Minutes

For best results, reheat right before eating, not hours in advance.

Can I microwave the meat?

You can, but a stovetop is better. If microwaving:

  • Reduce power to 50%
  • Heat in short intervals
  • Stir often to prevent overcooking

Can I set up a subscription?

Yes! Choose one-time orders or set up a recurring subscription for weekly or monthly deliveries.

Why is there a minimum of $80?

To ensure quality shipping and packaging, we require a $80 order minimum.

What if my discount code isn’t working?

  • Codes are one-time use
  • Cannot be combined
  • Subscription customers get 20% off automatically after the first order

Do you accept EBT?

Not yet, but we’re working on it!

Why does your meat cost more than grocery store meat?

Our pricing reflects:

  • Chef-crafted recipes
  • Premium cuts
  • Clean ingredients
  • Direct delivery to your door

You're getting restaurant-quality meals, ready in minutes.

Is your packaging BPA-free?

Yes. All packaging is FDA and USDA compliant and BPA-free.

Why does the label mention 12–14% juices?

We use sous-vide cooking, which locks in natural juices and tenderness. The liquid includes renderings, sauces, and seasoning, it’s part of what makes our meat so flavorful.

Why does cooked weight differ from raw weight?

Meat loses water and fat during cooking. For example, briskets can lose up to 50% of their weight. We list the cooked weight, so you know exactly what you're getting.

Are your meats Halal or Kosher?

Not currently.
